David R. Kardish, 78, of Ellwood City passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh. He was the son of the late Adam and Louisa “Lucy” (Esposito) Kardish and was born September 10, 1946, in New Castle.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years; Cathy (McClearn) Kardish of Ellwood City, his children; David M. Kardish and his wife Ashton in Virginia Beach, VA, Rebecca Linn and her husband Andy in Williamsburg, SC, one stepson; Dennis Johnston and his wife Jodi of Oldsmar, FL, grandchildren; Logan, Madison, Katy, Julia, his sister; Annette Stancombe of Ellwood City, Martin Kardish and his wife Linda of Hudson, OH, Steve Kardish and his wife Sandy of Charleston,SC and his sister-in-law; Judith Yeykal and her husband Joe.
David was born in New Castle and was a 1964 graduate of Lincoln High School and he received his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Youngstown State University. He was a former member of St Agatha Catholic Church, and he also attended Devine Grace Parrish-Holy Redeemer Church. He met and married the love of his life, Cathy, in 1985 and they were married 40 years. David was an avid golfer and a member of the Delmar Golf Club. He loved to cook, loved grilling and watching cooking shows. He loved to make soup and made sure that everyone in his family had soup to take home. Dave was known to be brutally honest about everything and was definitely a straight shooter. With Dave, you always knew where you stood.
He is preceded in death by this step-daughter; Tracey Smith
Friends may call on the family on Sunday, March 16, 2025, from 4:00pm-7:00pm at Turner-Hyde Funeral and Cremation Services. A Memorial Blessing Service will be held on Monday at 4:00pm with Deacon Joe Ross at Turner-Hyde
Interment will be in Locust Grove Cemetery in Ellwood City.
